God will use every aspect of our lives, even the things that don’t seem to fit, to bring about His plan.ĭuring his time in Egypt, Joseph was arrested for a crime he didn’t commit. He said to them, “Please listen to this dream which I have had for behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and lo, my sheaf rose up and also stood erect and behold, your sheaves gathered around and bowed down to my sheaf.” Then his brothers said to him, “Are you actually going to reign over us? Or are you really going to rule over us?” So they hated him even more for his dreams and for his words. Then Joseph had a dream, and when he told it to his brothers, they hated him even more. His brothers saw that their father loved him more than all his brothers and so they hated him and could not speak to him on friendly terms. Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his sons, because he was the son of his old age and he made him a varicolored tunic. Have you ever shared it with someone only for them to rain on your parade? Choose to be wise when it comes to sharing with others the special things God has placed on your heart. God will often place something special on your heart. In other words, don’t share what is precious with those who plan to trample on it. In the New Testament, Jesus reminded his followers not to cast their pearls before swine. They did come to pass in time, but hearing the dreams caused great division and jealousy within his family. But part of what made his brothers so envious was the fact that Joseph shared these dreams with his brothers.
Sometimes God reveals things to us that are meant for our ears only.

Click here to read my full disclosure policy. And God used this seemingly hopeless situation to change the course of history. In their bitterness and rage, Joseph was sold into slavery in Egypt. And because of that, his brothers were more than jealous of him. One of twelve sons, Joseph was the favorite of his father Jacob. From beginning to end, his life is both compelling and inspiring. If I had to pick a favorite Old Testament Bible story, it would undoubtedly be the life of Joseph.
